Volunteer Co-ordinator Hana says HI!

Hello! My name’s Hana and I’m really excited to be taking up the role of Volunteer Coordinator within the Bristol Hospitality Network. I joined the network because as I was growing up I moved around a lot and never really felt a sense of belonging anywhere; so when I come to Bristol two years ago becoming an active part of my community was really important to me. I wanted to put down some roots, learn new skills, and meet people from all over the world.

When I’m not volunteering I work for a Bristol based charity providing young people with a hand up, out of crisis. I trained in Law and still spend a lot of my time reading academic literature. I also really enjoy practising circus skills with my friends, especially hanging around on a trapeze!

I’m enjoying the challenge of my new role within BHN as our volunteers are really important to us, without them we wouldn’t be where we are today. I’m going to be doing my best to help Bristol Hospitality Network develop into a thriving network of supported volunteers, through organising training, events and listening to what our volunteers need from us. So please do come and find me at the drop-in centre on Mondays or at the member’s house if you have anything you’d like to talk about.

So far I’ve started meeting with hosts, mediators, chefs and our help team to find out what they’d like to see more of within the network. I’ve been struck by how much talent and passion our teams have to support those that are vulnerable in Bristol and I hope that being here to support their develop will enable our volunteers to achieve their goals in extending solidarity to people who are experiencing destitution.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, you can find me at the drop in centre or email me at volunteers@bhn.org.uk
